Manga Rock 1.4 update is now available for download

As we have promised, Manga Rock 1.4 is here to fix our mistake from 1.3. The app now works for iOS 3 as well as iPad users!

So what’s new in this version:

  • Backward compatibility with iOS 3.
  • We have updated our filtering system to deliver more manga to you. US users please check whether you have roughly more than 990+ manga, if you don’t please reset the app from the INFO tab. Users from other countries should have more manga due to less licenses.
  • We have improved the viewer so that it can handle larger pages and chapters.

Again, for those who are still in version 1.2, when you update to v1.4, ALL of your downloaded manga will be DELETED as we have switched to a new source and that required us to purge the database or the app will not function at all. So please, finish reading your downloaded manga first before updating to the latest version.

Also, for those who are interested, we are going to launch a new manga app, Manga Rock MF, that is based on mangafox.com. More information can be found at this blog post, and you can be one of the first one to get it by registering your email with us at http://www.notabasement.com !

That’s all for now, hope you enjoy your manga using Manga Rock!

Manga Rock received a 4-out-of-5-star review from 148apps.com

Hi everyone,

First of all, before I start with 148apps, let me say this “THANK YOU”, BIG ONE, to our amazing users! Our first week on the app store has been astounding with over 3,000 downloads! Without your support, we couldn’t have achieved such number. Thank you!

Now that I have expressed my thanks, let’s get back to the main event.

148apps.com is one of the earliest and most respectable app review sites around, and is a founding member of the Organization for App Testing Standards – an organization devoted to editorial ethics. An hour ago, Manga Rock received a 4-out-of-5-star-review from them! My heart skipped a beat seeing the review. Here are some comments regarding the app, taken from 148apps.com’s review of Manga Rock:

“Manga Rock is a great way to view and download manga from onemanga.com, and every otaku should at least download the free version.”

“Reading manga with Manga Rock is surprisingly pleasant—more so than using the web version from my computer, even.”

“Overall, if you’re a manga fan, you need the Manga Rock app.”

It was a privilege for Manga Rock to be reviewed by 148apps and received a 4 out of 5 star, and that made me feel a whole lot better, especially after this week’s situation with Yen Press, and some unethical competition.

Again, it is a good day for me, for Manga Rock, and for Not A Basement Studio. Again, I, on behalf of Not A Basement Studio, would like to give a big thank you to all of our users for the amazing support, thank you to Bonnie Eisenman for the awesome review, and to the rest of our team for their hard work in the last few months.

Cheers,

Hieu Tr. Tran

P/S : We love Marvel Comics, but the fact that Manga Rock coincidentally get to stand beside them on 148apps.com’s homepage, our 4 star vs. their 3.5 star, just make me giggle :P And btw, the iPad arrived today (and no I’m sorry but you will have to wait another day for the review of the iPad)!
