Manga Rock 1.6: “Backup & Restore” & iOS7 compatibility

130919_BACKUPRESTORE_Vu-1

We are glad to announce the latest update for Manga Rock iOS, version 1.6, is now available on the App Store today. You can get the update right HERE. Together with many bug fixes for iOS 7, this update also brings you the new feature “Back up & Restore”. Let’s learn more.

Overview

“Back up & Restore” (Manga Rock Cloud) is a cloud storage system available in Manga Rock Android 1.0 and Manga Rock iOS 1.6. All users, both free and paid, can use this feature to back up and restore their Manga Rock data (Favorite, Recent, and Personalize Settings) across multiple Android and iOS devices. Thus, you can easily back up your data in iOS and restore it in Android device, or vice versa.

To log into Manga Rock Cloud, you can simply use your existing Facebook or Twitter accounts. Otherwise, you can register an account with us.

How to use “backup & restore”

First, you need to understand how “Back up & Restore” works. When backing up data, Manga Rock will use the existing data on your device to overwrite the backed up data on Manga Rock Cloud. Different from “Back up”, when restoring data, the app will merge the existing data on your device with the data on Manga Rock Cloud.

To apply this knowledge, consider a situation when you want to transfer app data between 2 devices. Below are the correct steps to follow:

  1. Perform a back up on the device that you have the most data (Eg. your iPad)
  2. Perform a restore on the device that you have the least data (Eg. your Samsung Galaxy S3)
  3. Optional: Perform a back up on your Samsung Galaxy S3. Now you will have all of your data (from both devices) safely backed up on Manga Rock Cloud.

We believe that “Backup & Restore” is a very useful feature for every Manga Rock users. It’s just like your house backup key – you won’t need it everyday, but when the time comes, you will be super happy to have it.

Enjoy reading with Manga Rock and have a nice day!

Manga Rock Android coming back next week

We are very excited to announce that Manga Rock Android is coming back on the Play Store next week. After looking around and exchanging info with other developers, we found out that it will usually takes Google’s automated system months to reinstate the original version. Knowing that, we’ll release a new and better version of Manga Rock Android, instead of waiting around and unable to push any update to existing users. So read on, and find out what’s new!

As we have said, the old version of Manga Rock is still being held back by Google. This will be a new version of Manga Rock Android – meaning existing users will need to download this new version to get new updates and features. And NO, you won’t have to re-purchase the app, nor will you lose any data! We already have a plan for the migration process. More info will be available when the app is released next week.

This is one of the most requested features ever for Manga Rock. With the new MR Cloud Backup & Restore features, you’ll be able to keep the same Favorite, Recent and Personalized settings across all of your devices!

This option will be added into the Personalized Settings and is set as OFF by default. Once turned ON, the app will only download manga with WiFi, and you can still read manga online with 3G. Better yet, downloading via WiFi will enable up to 4 concurrent downloading queues, just like the iOS version.

“Make it available in Android” – Roger DancingSkittles

“My sister has it on her iPhone & I can tell there’s nothing as good as this on Android!”- Antoine AKfourseven HeiLong

You guys have been asking for an Android version of Manga Rock for a while. However, the fragmentation problem of Android and the technology gap between Android and iOS prevented us from delivering a top-notch manga reading experience.

Since the release of the latest Android updates, coupled with solid devices like the Galaxy S4 and HTC One, we believe it’s time Manga Rock make its debut on the Android platform.

In the last few years, we have been making and refining every aspect of Manga Rock – we started with the iPhone, then the iPad, later added support for multiple sources and languages. Every single feature in Manga Rock was carefully thought out and developed with one singular mission: delivering the best manga reading experience on mobile.

Over 2 million users have been reading manga on their iOS devices. This July, Manga Rock will deliver the best manga reading experience, on Android.
